During a meeting between Isaka Abdulkadir Imam, Secretary-General of the Developing Eight (D8) Organization, and Seyyed Rasoul Mohajer, Deputy Minister for Economic Diplomacy at Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two sides reviewed existing cooperation and exchanged views on the organization's future programs.

The D8 Secretary-General provided an update on the latest initiatives of the organization, highlighting the D8 Summit, held in December in Egypt, and the follow-up on agreements reached during the meeting.

He also commended Iran's constructive role in advancing the objectives of the D8, noting that Iran has always been an influential member of the organization.
He emphasized Iran’s contribution as the host of two key D8-affiliated institutions: The D8 Technology Transfer Network and the D8 International University in Hamedan.

Additionally, the Secretary-General outlined the organization's priority initiatives and upcoming ministerial meetings, including the D8 Energy and ICT Ministers’ Meetings in Tehran, the Tourism Ministers’ Meeting in Egypt, the Health Ministers’ Meeting in Egypt, and several other high-level gatherings.

The Iranian Deputy Minister for Economic Diplomacy underscored the original vision behind the establishment of the D8 by eight major Muslim nations and emphasized the pivotal role of the Secretary-General in advancing cooperation and realizing the organization’s objectives. He reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to continued support for the D8 Secretariat and its affiliated programs.

Mohajer also presented several recommendations for expanding D8 cooperation in trade, customs facilitation, agricultural products, small and medium-sized enterprises, tourism and medical tourism, and easing visa requirements for tourists and businesspeople, which were well received by the Secretary-General.

It is worth noting that the D8 Organization for Economic Cooperation, established over two decades ago, comprises Iran, Turkey, Pakistan, Egypt, Nigeria, Bangladesh, Malaysia, and Indonesia. At the most recent D8 Summit in Cairo, Azerbaijan Republic was accepted as the ninth member of the organization.
